LOA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY
Loa Elementary School will involve parents in the process of school review and improvement by:
1. Holding monthly community council meetings
2. Sharing achievement data with parents
3. Invite input from parents regarding school academic goals
4. Discuss scientifically based research instructional practices
Loa Elementary School will coordinate and provide technical assistance in planning and implementing effective parent involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance by:
1. Plan and coordinate 2 major parent night activities per year
2. Plan and coordinate Reading/math student incentives
3. Plan and coordinate SEP/PT conferences
4. Plan for special programs
5. Transition activities for:
a. Home to pre-school
b. Pre-school to Kindergarten
c. Fifth grade to Middle School
6. Have available for parent’s copies and forms for:
a. Utah Core Teaching Standards
b. Academic assessments & explanation of proficiency levels
c. Explanation of school programs
Loa Elementary School will build school and parent capacity for parental involvement by:
1. Building and utilizing a strong community council
2. Provide strong school/parent communication utilizing, email accounts, school website, Facebook, memos, and flyers
3. Encouraging parent volunteers
4. Utilizing parent/school planned activities
5. Promote purposeful school-to-home communications sensitive to student need and ability
6. Employ extra efforts to elicit minority and special needs populations representation/participation
Loa Elementary School will coordinate and integrate parental involvement strategies with other programs including:
1. OEK (Optional Extended Day Kindergarten)
2. District inclusive Pre-school activities
3. Upstart
4. K-3 Literacy activities
5. Trustlands funding
6. Head Start
7. Starr Reading
Loa Elementary School will evaluate the effectiveness of the parent involvement policy by:
1. Community council review and discussion
2. Short parent survey
3. Teacher discussion and input
4. Recording and evaluating parent participation percentages
5. Evaluate program effectiveness
